Director

Christopher Elmes

Chris became a director at the practice in March 2018. He is a second-generation dentist, following in the footsteps of both his parents. Chris grew up in Colchester. He took the opportunity to study abroad, where he obtained his dental degree from the University of Debrecen, Hungary in 2011. He then went back to his family dental practice on Mersea Island, near Colchester, where he had been practicing for the last 5 years.

Chris is married to Anne, whom he met whilst studying aboard and who is a doctor at Jersey General Hospital. They have 2 daughters: Lily and Molly.

Chris is a strong believer that ‘prevention is better than cure’, and so likes to make sure patients are involved in all aspects of preventative dental care. Chris is also very happy to see and treat anxious patients; he feels that clear and thorough communication helps to put patients at ease.

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, we welcome new patients of all ages. Whether you're looking for a new family dentist, a routine check-up or a specific treatment, our friendly team will be happy to help.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first appointment allows us to get to know you and your oral health needs. We'll carry out a thorough examination, discuss any concerns you may have and talk you through any recommended treatments or next steps.
How often should I visit the dentist?
Most patients benefit from a dental check-up every six months, although this may vary depending on your oral health. We'll recommend a schedule that's right for you.
I'm nervous about visiting the dentist. Can you help?
Absolutely. Many people feel anxious about dental appointments, and you're not alone. Our team takes a gentle, understanding approach, ensuring you feel comfortable, informed and supported throughout your visit.
Do you offer emergency dental appointments?
Yes. If you're experiencing dental pain, swelling, trauma or another urgent dental issue, please contact us as soon as possible and we'll do our best to arrange an appointment promptly.
Do you treat children?
Yes, we provide dental care for patients of all ages and are committed to helping children develop positive dental habits from an early age.
Do you offer cosmetic dental treatments?
Yes. We offer a range of cosmetic treatments, including teeth whitening, clear aligners and smile-enhancing restorative treatments. We'll help you choose the option that's right for your smile and your goals.
How can I keep my teeth healthy between appointments?
Brushing twice a day, cleaning between your teeth daily and attending regular dental check-ups are the best ways to maintain good oral health. We'll also provide personalised advice to help keep your smile healthy for years to come.
What payment options do you offer?
We believe in being open and transparent about the cost of your dental care. We'll explain all treatment fees before you begin, and our team will be happy to discuss the payment options available to help make your treatment as straightforward as possible.
